Nathan Cole was born and raised in Sunderland, a stone’s throw from Monkwearmouth, where St Peter’s Church, a major location in his debut novel and one of the earliest seats of English Christianity, still stands proudly on the banks of the River Wear today.
A lifelong lover of storytelling, history, myth and folklore, he began researching the Anglo-Saxon North long before writing A Raven’s Prayer. His fascination with the clash between faith and power in early medieval England inspired a story rooted in real places and figures, from the Venerable Bede to the turbulent kings of Northumbria.
A Raven’s Prayer is his first novel, and the beginning of a series exploring faith, darkness, and the roots of British folklore in the early medieval world.
