Mary Joan Grimm, affectionately known as "Miss Joanie," was born on October 26,1932. At the age of 18, Joanie began traveling to teach and share the gospel, which she continued into her eighties. As the daughter and granddaughter of ministers, these formative experiences sparked a lifelong love for teaching and sharing the message of Jesus.
In addition to teaching and singing at evangelistic meetings, Joanie founded Mt. Carmel Christian School and for decades, she taught Bible in Christian schools. She continued teaching children until the age 91. Even now, she remains an active part-time teacher. For decades, Joanie led children’s church and the children’s choir. She continues to share in children's church on Sunday mornings and leads a weekly small group Bible study for adults in her home.
With the support of her husband of 67 years, David Grimm, Joanie’s ministry extended far beyond the classroom. She traveled to fifteen countries, many multiple times, reaching both children and adults with the gospel. David often joined Joanie, as did her three children, Davey, Jan and Wendy. While David claimed his heavenly reward in recent years, Joanie continues to make her home in Conyers, Georgia. She enjoys visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
