Dawson L. K. Malouin (Dawson Logan Kurt Malouin) was born on June 3 2004 in Victoriaville, Québec. His first language is French, but he started his dark fantasy writing career by writing in English. He grew up in poverty and through the foster system. In December 2025 he was experiencing homelessness after the end of a two-year on-and-off abusive relationship. In January 2026 he began a philosophy major at Bishop’s University. By that time, Ramus, his debut novella, was already published and Hellsburst was very close to being completed.
He is diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder and crafts his books very meticulously. An example of this would be Mr Vaucrest from Ramus. The lack of a first name is intentional because it helps the narrative surrounding his personality, and is a pointless detail to include. One of his main struggles is reaching a word count that meets industry standards because of his curating tendencies.
His debut novella, Ramus, was praised by a philosophy PhD, who compared its precise style to the surgical prose of Ernst Jünger's The Glass Bees.
