Robin L.P. Blackstone, MD, FACS, FASMBS, is a surgeon, author, and health-systems architect working to redesign American health care around prevention, trust, and measurable health over time. She is founder of Blackstone Health and the H4 Alliance; author of Doctor AI: Reimagining Healthcare, Rebuilding Trust, Delivering Health 4.0 and American Health — Who Gets Paid; and a member of the VivaMed BioPharma board.
She was the first woman elected president of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. As chair of the joint ACS/ASMBS committee, she proposed and helped lead the unification of bariatric-surgery accreditation into MBSAQIP. She is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Surgery at the University of Arizona and held the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Endowed Chair.
Her current work advances Health 4.0 and Health Trajectory Engineering: a people-first system that uses clinical care, culture, trustworthy data, and AI to protect health before crisis.
