Ben Patterson

Ben Patterson writes character-driven science fiction for readers who like their action smart, their humor dry, and their heroes competent. Stripping away “chosen ones” and epic destinies, his stories focus on professionals under pressure: bounty hunters, reporters, pilots, soldiers, and mechanics who survive on skill, adaptability, and stubbornness.

Blending fast-paced adventure with deep character stakes, his work explores worlds where doing the right thing is rarely clean and never convenient. Spaceships break. Plans go sideways. Institutions fail. Technology advances faster than wisdom, and courage remains stubbornly analog. What matters is what people do next.

At the heart of Ben’s fiction are flawed people trying to hold onto their humanity when the universe gives them every reason not to. Because in a broken galaxy, competence matters. Loyalty matters more. And nobody gets a free pass just because the universe is having a bad day.
