Michael Merten

Michael Merten (born in 1983) studied history and political science at the University of Trier. He learned the craft of journalism as a trainee at at a news agency, for which he subsequently worked as a correspondent in the Trier/ Luxembourg region. Since 2019, he has been an editor at the Luxemburger Wort, where he focuses on international politics, reporting and profiles. Merten closely followed the final years of Jean Asselborn's tenure as foreign minister and wrote his biography, Die Tour seines Lebens (The Tour of His Life), in 2025. As a passionate cycle tourist, he organised a charity cycle tour from Luxembourg to Kyiv in 2023.
