Roman Rackwitz

Roman Rackwitz is author and founder of Engaginglab, an agency for behavioral economics. Since 2009, he has been exploring the question of why people voluntarily stick with something even when rewards are no longer available. His work lies at the intersection of psychology, economics, and design and is aimed at anyone who designs systems in which performance, learning, or usage count over time.

He is considered one of the pioneers of a non-behaviorist form of gamification and has developed his own approach, the ‘Drive Method’, which understands motivation not as a question of character but as a design problem. His models are used in companies, educational institutions, and digital products when classic incentive logic reaches its limits.

In his books, he combines scientific findings with clear thought models and practical examples. They are intended for readers who are not looking for motivational tricks, but want to understand how to build environments in which people voluntarily improve.
