Jana Watson

Jana Watson is a writer and folklorist from North Alabama. She formerly directed the Burritt Folk School in Huntsville, Alabama, where she developed workshops in traditional crafts. Her work also includes oral history projects throughout Southern Appalachia. Jana writes poems, essays, and stories that are rooted in her own family’s histories and the cultural complexities of the American South.

"A Recipe for Remembering" is her first children’s book, inspired by her family’s tradition of cooking and storytelling. Jana hopes it encourages young readers to discover how stories connect us to each other and to the communities we call home.
