Sara Finzel

Sara Finzel is a mother, photographer, and passionate advocate for children living with Type 1 Diabetes. Inspired by her daughter Emilia's journey, she created Emilia and Her Sugar Dragon to help children feel understood and empowered while also teaching friends, families, and classrooms about Diabetes with kindness and honesty. Drawing from her own experiences, Sara's mission is to foster empathy, awareness, and inclusivity through storytelling. She believes books have the power to open conversations and create supportive communities for children living with chronic conditions. She lives in Michigan with her family, where she enjoys photography, creative projects, and making magical memories with her daughter.
