Youqin Huang

Dr. Youqin Huang is the Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Success and Professor of Geography and Planning at University at Albany, State University of New York. She is currently the Co-Director of Urban China Research Network (UCRN). She also served as the Chair and Vice Chair of China Geography Specialty Group (CGSG) of Association of American Geographers (AAG), Executive Director of Confucius Institute and Geography and Planning Department Chair at UAlbany. Her research aims to understand the impact of demographic shifts, socioeconomic transformations, and government policies on the lives of individuals and communities, focusing on three inter-related areas: housing, migration, and health and wellbeing. She is the (co-)author/(co-)editor of ten books/edited volumes, including Housing Inequality in Chinese Cities (2014), and Chinese Cities in the 21st Century (2020). She has also published many papers in leading journals, including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), The China Quarterly, Annals of American Association of Geographers, Urban Studies, Cities, Housing Studies, Environment and Planning A, and B. Her research was supported by different agencies, including NIH, NSF and AAAS. She is ranked as one of the "Top 0.5% Scholars Worldwide" by ScholarGPS and “Top 2% Most Highly Cited Scientists” by Standford University and Elsevier. She has received many awards for her research and service, including “Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Scholarship & Creative Activities” by State University of New York System, “President’s Excellence Award in Research and Creative Activities” and “President’s Award for Exemplary Public Engagement” by University at Albany, and “Outstanding Service Award” by the American Association of Geographers China Geography Specialty Group, and Chinese Community Center of the Capital District of New York.
