Barry Allen

Who is Barry Allen?

Well, at school his geography teacher did not think very highly of Barry. He said if there was one scholar that was destined to fail in life, it was Barry.

Barry though took no notice of his words. He was selected to play cricket in the Eastern Transvaal Nuffield school team. He started playing both cricket and football for the town team at the age of 16.

At the age of 18 he left home and moved to the city of Johannesburg to work as an analytical Chemist while attending collage at night to get his diploma.

It was in Johannesburg, South Africa that Barry met Ria and over a shared bowl of spaghetti Bolognese, looking across the table at this lady, who had a small piece of Bolognese sauce of her chin Barry knew, this was the lady he was going to marry and spend the rest of his life with.

Barry graduated as an analytical chemist with honors and was snapped up by a corporate company to head up their laboratory.

By the age of 25 Barry and Ria and their two young daughters, Elaine and Tanja, moved out of an apartment in Hillbrow, Johannesburg into a newly built home in the suburbs.

Not only was this a new adventure for the family, but it was also a time of great uncertainty, as Barry together with two friends started a chemical manufacturing enterprise. This business grew in leaps and bounds, way beyond their dreams and aspirations and became a large company.

It was in all the moving and shaking that Barry had an unexpected encounter with God, that totally transformed his life.

Barry became a minister in the Methodist Church of Southern Africa and after sixteen years ministering in South Africa, Barry and Ria, had a call from God to leave country, family and friends to go to a country that God would show them.

That country was the United Kingdom and Barry and Ria have ministered there for the last eight years.

They now live in Dorset in the United Kingdom.
