Chris Torrence

Chris Torrence is the lead software engineer for IDL, a scientific software package, and holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Colorado. Beyond his technical career, he pursues historical research in the Regency era, with a particular focus on Jane Austen and the Napoleonic Wars, as well as his own family history. He is also a longtime retro-computing enthusiast and hosts a popular video podcast on the Apple II computer. He has authored or edited several works including Jane Austen's Sailor Brothers, Assembly Lines: The Complete Book, and the game manuals for the award-winning video game Nox Archaist. He lives in Colorado with his wife and two daughters.
