Sarah Bracey White

Sarah Bracey White is a southern storyteller who uses her personal history to create poetry, plays, fiction and non fiction. A graduate of Morgan State University and the University of Maryland, Sarah is a motivational speaker who has worked as a teacher, college and legal librarian and arts consultant. When her memoir "Primary Lessons" was transformed into "Transcendence" - an immersive, dramatic musical - Sarah was cast in the starring role of her own life and set off on a journey to becoming an actor, playwright and producer. She made her off-off Broadway acting debut in Louisiana Shoal, which reached finalist status in The 2024 Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Short Play Festival. Her other published books include The Wanderlust: A Folk Tale; and Feelings Brought to Surface, a poetry collection. Her essays have been anthologized in Children of the Dream; Dreaming in Color, Living in Black and White; Aunties: 35 Writers Celebrate Their Other Mother; Gardening on a Deeper Level, and most recently in Mothers, Martyrs and Jezebels, a feminist anthology, and "Well Said, Well Read," a collection of essays from Writers Read.
