Robert Sae-Heng

Robert Sae-Heng is a Mexican-Thai illustrator who lives in London with his fantastically large cheese plant, Elvis and discerning cat, Mackerel.

Robert was unable to hear for much of his childhood and used imagery to communicate. Drawing has always been an integral part of how Robert processes the world around him.

Storytelling is a key theme in Robert’s work, portrayed through his digital and analogue works which feature bold colours, playful characters and depth of texture.

The first book he illustrated was The One Thing You’d Save, by Linda Sue Park, 2021. Since this publication he has worked on the mini-series (Mini Artists, Mini Architects, Mini Designers and Mini Photographers) all authored by Joséphine Seblon, and a range of fiction and non-fiction titles including How to Build a Chocolate Bridge, Roma Agrawal, 2025, and How to Build a Home (part of the Little Experts series), George Clarke, 2024. Continuing his work with Linda Sue Park, Just One Gift was published in 2026.

Robert is currently author/illustrating his own book about identity and nature.
