Tom Fontana

Tom Fontana is a professional guitar teacher with 25+ years of experience who has taught more than 200,000 students through his online programs. He created The Guitar Lesson in 2008 after leaving the banking industry to pursue his passion for teaching guitar, and the platform has since grown to feature 300+ video lessons.

Tom’s approach to guitar education was further refined when he began teaching his son Milan at age 9, which inspired the creation of Guitar Playground—an online guitar learning platform designed for kids aged 8–14. Together, Tom and Milan form a father-son teaching team that combines expert instruction with a child’s perspective, making learning guitar fun and engaging for young students.

When he’s not creating guitar lessons or writing books about music education, Tom enjoys perfecting his craft as a hobby barista.
