Dan Thornton

Based in Denver, Colorado, Dan Thornton is a science fiction author and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. His love of storytelling began with fantasy and the works of Tolkien, but his journey into science fiction truly started when he discovered Larry Niven's Ringworld.

Dan served aboard an aircraft carrier during the Gulf War, spending his days on the flight deck wrangling F-14 Tomcats. That real-world chaos and camaraderie became the inspiration behind his stories, where teamwork, sacrifice, and ordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances take center stage.

Dan is the author of the Exiles War trilogy, a military science-fiction series about an unlikely crew caught in humanity's first war with an alien enemy. Beginning with Fleet of the Forgotten and continuing with City of the Forgotten, the series blends military action, space opera, first contact, and the mysteries of ancient alien civilizations.

A lifelong science-fiction fan, Dan draws inspiration from classic authors such as Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, and Philip K. Dick, along with modern writers including M.R. Forbes, John Scalzi, and Andy Weir.

When he's not writing about starships, alien civilizations, and people having very bad days in space, Dan can usually be found building replica props, attending his local Comic-Con, or enjoying his favorite video games.

Dan believes that no creative journey is a solo flight and is deeply grateful to the indie writing and reading communities that have supported him along the way.
