Daniel K Elder

Daniel K. Elder is a retired U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major whose 26-year career culminated as the senior enlisted leader of Army Materiel Command. He is the author and editor of works on Army leadership and history, including The NCO Guide, Soldier for Life with Jack L. Tilley, and Sergeants Major of the Army. As compiler for the Association of the United States Army, he produced Quotes for Winners: Sergeant Major of the Army Quotes and Campaign Streamers of the United States Army. His upcoming book, NCO School: How the Vietnam-era NCO Candidate Course Shaped the Modern Army, will be published by the University of North Georgia Press.
