Jasleen Kaur is the author of Letters to My Twins, a deeply reflective memoir on motherhood, ambition, and raising critical thinkers in a world shaped by power, policy, and inequality. She is also the creator of the Impact Evaluation Series for Children, translating research methods into stories that empower young readers to question, reason, and think independently.
A policy researcher, she currently serves as a Senior Program Specialist with the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, where she leads data-driven initiatives to modernize prosecution practices, strengthen trauma-informed approaches for victims, and advance evidence-based justice. Her work sits at the intersection of analytics, accountability, and community trust.
She holds a PhD in Public Policy from the University of Texas at Austin. Her doctoral research examined 3,500 Asian Development Bank projects to analyze gender dynamics in international development. She has held research roles at J-PAL South Asia, Duke University, and Uptogether, specializing in causal inference and large-scale impact evaluation.
As a South Asian woman navigating academia, public service, and motherhood, Jasleen writes about systems from both inside and outside them—bringing rigor, lived experience, and moral clarity to her work.
