James A Spillane

James A. Spillane is a lifelong New Hampshire native, father of three, and a man who quite literally lives above it all—on a mountain in Deerfield, where the air is clear and the seasons mark time in their own language. His love of the written word took root early, sparked by the landscapes of literature and the wilder landscapes just outside his door. That pull toward language never left him.

His first published work, Musings from the Mountain, is a poetry collection drawn from over thirty years of reflection, observation, and hard-won insight—a mosaic of life’s quieter and louder moments. His debut novel, The Sisyphus Project, represents the culmination of years of creative vision and persistence. Conceived from an idea first imagined in high school, the story evolved over decades of shaping, setbacks, and breakthroughs until it emerged as a layered exploration of humanity, technology, and possibility.

By day, James works as a senior technical writer, bringing the same precision and attention to detail to complex documentation as he does to his fiction. By night (and often well into the early morning), he is a storyteller, shaping worlds that merge the plausible with the extraordinary.

Outside of writing, James has dedicated much of his life to service and community. A long-time elected member of New Hampshire’s historic volunteer legislature, he has worked to preserve the state’s character, freedoms, and traditions. He is also the founder of the New Hampshire Veteran Sportsman Foundation, a charitable organization providing free hunting and fishing licenses to veterans in need—an effort that has restored connections to the outdoors for hundreds of servicemen and women.

Whether crafting legislation, organizing community support, or building fictional universes, James approaches each with the same belief: that words—spoken or written—carry weight, shape lives, and open doors to new ways of seeing the world.
