Lesley Wiseman-Orr

I live in Scotland, in beautiful countryside near the City of Glasgow, with my husband and my one-eyed horse. I have two grown-up children, one of whom lives next door with my two young grandchildren who take up as much of my time as feels good for us all! In addition to my work, including that on various committees, I enjoy walking, cycling, writing and painting.

My first proper job was in educational publishing where for almost twenty years I was an editor then commissioning editor for primary and secondary school publications. In my 40s I followed an idea which led to measurement research and a PhD awarded in 2005, and a continuation of that work at post-doc level and beyond. I was given the opportunity to apply my measurement expertise to educational assessment, as part of a project team tasked with developing new national qualifications and assessments for Scotland. I then returned to the University of Glasgow, tutoring and researching in the School of Education where I am currently a Research Fellow.

I am a member of the University of Glasgow Educational Assessment Network (UGEAN) and a member of the International Educational Assessment Network (IEAN), a Fellow of the Association for Educational Assessment Europe (AEA-E) and a member of its Council.
