Cheng Boon Koh

Cheng Boon received his PhD in Business and Management from the University of South Australia. He lectures at the Nanyang Business School in NTU where he teaches Principles of Management, Organisational Behaviour, Leadership, Team Building, Psychological well-being and Independent Research Design module from undergraduate to Master levels. He was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award 2018 and presented with the prestigious Koh Boon Hwee scholars award in 2017.

He was the Academic Director for the International Master of Business Administration (IMBA), Entrepreneur Development Programme (EDP) and various Executive Programmes from Maybank X-celerating Future Leaders Programme, Norwegian-Fudan-NTU EMBA and CEIBS EMBA programme.

Prior to joining NTU in 2012, Cheng Boon served in the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), and his last appointments were Commander Air Warfare Training Institute (AWTI) and concurrently the Head Training Development Group from May 2007 to Dec 2011. Cheng Boon was also actively involved in the transformation journey of the 3rd Gen RSAF where he was a key leader in transforming Air Force Training Command (AFTC).

His research interests include collective leadership, crisis leadership, emotional intelligence and leadership effectiveness, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), calibration between confidence and accuracy, career transition, learning styles, and training development and evaluation.

He also presented his research at the 61st IMTA (International Military Testing Association) conference in 2019, 51st International Applied Military Psychology Symposium (IAMPS) in 2016, 55th IMTA (International Military Testing Association) conference in 2013, the Australia New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM), and 5th Annual Asia Pacific Emotions in Worklife (APSEW) in 2010. He has developed a few psychometric tools (e.g., Collective Leadership Profiler, Crisis Leadership Qualities Survey, Leadership Style Profiler (LSP), Leadership Preference Survey, and Personnel Selection Tool) as part of his research interests. As an educator who believes in using various learning pedagogies to enhance learning efficacy, he spearheaded a few learning innovation projects. He was invited to share his experiment and findings during the Innovation in Teaching (IIT) Symposium at NTU in 2016.
