Gabriell DeBear Paye

Gabriell Debear Paye is a teacher, storyteller, and mom from New York City, who grew up surrounded by artists, diverse cultures, and human rights activists. Always a nature and animal lover, she went on to become a high school Biology, Chemistry, Horticulture, and Environmental Science lead teacher. She taught for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Liberia and for decades in the Boston Public Schools. She published labs and wrote an Ethnobotany book.

Gabriell now studies screenwriting where she blends her love of storytelling with a passion for science and social justice. Her scripts have been optioned five times, and she’s won or placed in more than twenty screenwriting contests.

She and her husband enjoy gardening, their cats, chess, and doing Taekwondo together. Monkeydog! is Gabriell’s first novel.
