George Abud

George Abud’s lifework spans the disciplines of acting, writing, and music. His first book of poetry, "A Day and Its Night," is published on the Cogrounded imprint. His premiere play, "The Ruins," received its world premiere at the legendary Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. Abud has worked primarily in the theatre in groundbreaking new musicals and plays. His acting credits include Darren Aronofsky’s film "Caught Stealing" starring Austin Butler & Bad Bunny; and the Broadway musicals "Lempicka," "The Band’s Visit" starring Katrina Lenk & Tony Shalhoub, and "The Visit" starring Chita Rivera & Roger Rees. Off-Broadway, Abud has starred in nearly a dozen landmark shows, including "Emojiland" for which he was nominated for the prestigious Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical, "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui" opposite Raśl Esparza and "Nathan The Wise" opposite Academy Award Winner F. Murray Abraham. Abud was the first musician to play the Oud for the late legendary composer Stephen Sondheim. He is the recipient of a Daytime Emmy Award.
