Raised far from ordinary classrooms and city streets, I grew up in deserts, on tugboats, and in the company of books. Solitude taught me to invent worlds, and encounters with the strange and dangerous taught me to question the mind behind the mask. My stories walk the line between adventure and nightmare, exploring the violence, beauty, and psychology of those who live on society’s edges.
