Presiding Elder Robert Christopher Wade was born in South Georgia to the late Deacon Andrew Thomas

Wade, Sr. and Mrs. Anna Mae Wade. He grew up in a Christian home and reached maturity in Orlando,

Florida. His journey with Christ began early, as he embraced his faith at an early age and answered the

divine call to preach at the age of twenty.

A Veteran and Scholar

Dr. Wade proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. During his three years of

During his dedicated service aboard ship duty, he demonstrated exceptional commitment and resilience. His time in

the Navy not only honed his leadership skills but also instilled in him a profound sense of discipline and

duty. His academic journey is impressive:

• Associate of Arts Degree in Sociology from Morris Brown College, Atlanta, Georgia.

• Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Education from United Bible College, Orlando, Florida.

• Master of Divinity Degree in Christian Education from the Interdenominational Theological

Center, Turner Theological Seminary, Atlanta, Georgia.

• Doctor of Ministry Degree in Church Administration and Urban Ministry from the Lutheran

Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Professional Excellence and Leadership

• Awarded the John A. Middleton and the Bishop William A. Wilkes Memorial Award for

Academic Excellence.

• Published in in "Who's Who in Colleges and Universities" and in the National Dean’s List of

America, 1989.

• He served as the President of the New Jersey Council of Churches from 2003 – 2010, the state’s

largest Ecumenical Organization representing sixteen protestant denominations and over 3,000

congregants.

• Appointed in 2009 by then Governor Jon Corzine to the Interagency Council on Preventing and

Reducing Homelessness.

• Consultant for the Board of Examiners of the New Jersey Annual Conference.

• Member of the New Jersey Annual Conference Board of Trustees.

• Board Member and Treasurer for the New Jersey Human Development Corporation.

• President and Secretary for the First Episcopal District Presiding Elders’ Council.

• Member of the Connectional Council of Presiding Elders of the AME Church.

• Master Mason of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge Temple Association of Pennsylvania, Inc., and

Member of the Masonic Doric Lodge #115, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

A Life of Ministry and Service

• Served in three Episcopal Districts: the Eleventh Episcopal District – Florida & Bahamas Islands,

the Sixth Episcopal District – Georgia, and the First Episcopal District.

• Successfully hosted three New Jersey Annual Conferences , the first time historically that all

conference and pre-conference activities were held under one roof.

• Served Fifty-six (56) years in Ministry.

• serving Thirty-five (35) years in the parish ministry, and

• Twenty-one (21)years as a presiding Elder of the Camden-Trenton District, New Jersey Annual

Conference, First Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

A Loving and Devoted Husband

Presiding Elder Wade is blissfully married to the former Prudence Hope Brown of Trenton, New Jersey,

who has been his steadfast companion and support throughout his journey. Together, they continue to

walk in faith, embodying the principles of love, service, and devotion that define Presiding Elder Wade’s

remarkable life
