EDSON DA CUNHA MAHFUZ

Graduated in Architecture from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1978), earned a postgraduate degree from the Diploma School of the Architectural Association School of Architecture (London, 1980), and a doctorate from the Doctoral Program in Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, 1983). From 2017 to 2018, he completed a Senior Internship at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (ETSAB).

He is currently a Full Professor of Architectural Design at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul-UFRGS, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate programs (PROPAR), with an emphasis on Architectural Design and Theory.

Alongside his academic career, he practices Architecture and Urbanism, having participated in several national public design competitions and completed numerous projects, inspired by the themes he proposes to his students and by architectural and urban planning situations he finds lacking.

He is a CNPq level 1 researcher and a collaborating researcher at the Center for Research in Architecture, Urbanism, and Design (CIAUD) (University of Lisbon, Portugal). Over several decades of academic dedication, he has published five books and over one hundred articles in national and international journals.

He has an online presence through the channel Design Materials (YouTube) and the website Arquiteturas Exemplares.
