Ajengan Rahmat Alinudin, a scholar who compiles and translates turots (classical Islamic texts), was born in Tasikmalaya on June 2, 1975. He is a native of the Pasundan (Sundanese) land who currently resides and dedicates himself to the community in Kampung Cibeureum, Nanggerang Village, Cigalontang Subdistrict, Tasikmalaya Regency. In this place, he teaches and enlightens the community with the knowledge he has acquired over many years.
His educational journey began at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic Primary School) Dangur Nanggerang and continued to the junior high school level. After completing his formal education, he stepped into the world of religious education by studying at traditional pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) characteristic of salaf ahlus sunnah wal jama'ah scholars.
The first place he studied religion was at the Al-Hidayah Islamic Boarding School in Bojongnangka. Unceasing in his thirst for knowledge, he then continued to the Mathlabul Hidayah Islamic Boarding School in Cibeureum, until he finally expanded and perfected his knowledge at the Al-I'ttihad Islamic Boarding School in Tanjak Nangsi, Pagerageung.
During his journey across various pesantren, he received knowledge and blessings from ulama (scholars), ajengan (clerics), waliyullah (saints of Allah), and masyaikh (revered elders) who possessed profound knowledge, steadfast monotheism (tauhid), righteousness, and uprightness in their intentions, words, and deeds. Among his teachers were Al-Mukarrom DR. K.H. Dodo Murtado, M.Si., Drs. K.H. Jajang Farjaman, and K.H. Zenal Muttaqin (who serves as the Chairman of the MUI of Nanggerang Village). Furthermore, he studied under Pangersa K.H. Muhammad Syarif Hidayatulloh from Pagerageung and Pangersa K.H. Zainal Abidin from Cibantar, who was a direct student of Al-Arif Billah Pangersa K.H. Toto Syarif Muhammad Zakaria (author of the book Jamiul Muqni). Through their guidance, he obtained a clear and accountable chain of knowledge (sanad).
Today, the knowledge he has received is continuously put into practice through his role as a teacher at the Mathlabul Hidayah Nursalam Islamic Boarding School. In addition to teaching, he also actively participates in the world of Sundanese Islamic literacy. As evidence, several mutholaah (study/review) works and translations have been produced by his hands, such as the Sundanese Aqoid Khomsin, the Sundanese Syarah Hikam Atthoillah, and the Sundanese Mutholaah Suluk Ma'rifat.
These works serve as a testament to his love for his mother tongue and his desire to make religious knowledge—especially the science of Tauhid—more easily explored and understood by all Sundanese people.
