Judy SooHoo

Judy SooHoo, a native Chicagoan, returned to her childhood interest in creative writing in her retirement from the corporate world. Her interest in current events, history, and cultural identity have informed her writing. Both her prose and poetry have been published in collections and anthologies and received recognition.

In 2025, she was published in Poetry Hall, Sunflowers Rising: Poems for Peace Anthology, and LitBop: Art and Literature in the Groove; in 2023, The Write City Review, and in 2022 TallGrass Writers Guild's Play. In 2024, her poetry was recognized in the Highland Park Poetry Challenge and Poets & Patrons 67th Chicagoland Poetry Contest; and placed fourth in the 2022 Stephen A. DiBiase Poetry Prize. She has been a featured reader for the Illinois State Poetry Society, Chicago Public Library, TallGrass Writers Guild, and other venues. She has found wonderful support through various organizations, such as the Grant Street Writers, the Budlong Woods Writers Group, the Community Writing Project, the Illinois State Poetry Society, and Off Campus Writers Workshop, among others.
