I have been writing for as long as I can remember, always drawn to the way stories can illuminate history and anchor us in place. As a historian and educator, I’ve spent my career exploring how the past shapes the present—and that same curiosity fuels my writing.

Although I work in a variety of forms, my favorite is historical, place-based fiction, where research and imagination meet to bring forgotten or overlooked moments to life. I also write poetry, which allows me to capture the lyric and fleeting beauty of place, memory, and human connection.

Outside of writing, I am a mother of three adult children and share my home with Bowie Stardust, my Aussalier—a joyful mix of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Australian Shepherd.

For me, writing is not only a craft but a way of seeing the world, a practice of uncovering the stories hidden in landscapes, communities, and in the everyday lives of people who came before us.
