Sherry Porter

I grew up in southern California in the San Fernando Valley. My mother was from a farm in Kansas, so we traveled there to visit over the years seeing several states along the way. As a child I loved music and singing, reading, traveling, and animals. As an adult I still love those things, and I also learned that I love to write.

I went to college at Cal Poly Humboldt for a B.A. in Music and a teaching credential. I had a teaching career for about 25 years teaching elementary music, high school health, preschool, and was a K-12 substitute teacher.

My mother's health declined, and my husband and I moved her to live with us on the central coast of California. I was responsible for her for about 15 years when she had dementia until she died at the age of 95.

I love nature, music, animals, writing, and perennial flower and vegetable gardening. My husband and I have a BBQ business for catering and for local events. I am a worship leader at a small Christian church in Gonzales, Ca, where I sing and play guitar. My husband plays electric bass with me, too.
