Alex Hall

Alex Hall is an Appalachian historian, digital storyteller, and poet. He founded AppalachianHistorian to preserve the region’s labor struggles, overlooked landmarks, and living folk traditions—pairing primary-source research with on-site photography to turn local memory into accessible narratives. Alex serves as Administrative Assistant to the Provost at Alice Lloyd College and coaches the college’s esports program, a role that blends strategic planning with data-driven mentoring. He completed his MBA in 2025 and is currently pursuing an M.Ed., an M.A. in History, and a master’s in Cybersecurity, reflecting a toolkit at the intersection of education, business, public history, and digital risk. In 2025 also finished three poetry collections: Blue Sunflower: A Christian Poetry Collection, Amber Jar July, and Paperhearts: A Breakup Collection of Poems. When he isn’t in the archives or on back roads photographing historic sites, he’s helping students compete, succeed, and tell their own stories across Appalachia.
