Rajat Roy

Rajat Roy is a historical fiction author and business consultant based in Sydney, Australia. An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, he draws on a deep interest in Indian history, empire, and political upheaval to craft stories of ambition, betrayal, and moral conflict.

His debut novel, The Traitor’s Bargain, explores the fall of Bengal and the rise of the British East India Company through the intertwined lives of rulers, conspirators, rebels, merchants, and soldiers. The novel was selected as an Editor’s Choice by the Historical Novel Society and was featured in the January 2026 issue of Kirkus Reviews Magazine.

Beyond fiction, Rajat writes essays on colonial history and the legacies of empire through the publishing imprint Emberline Books.
