Andrew Drasen

Andrew Drasen is an author, speaker, curriculum developer, and recovery advocate based in Franklin, Wisconsin. He wrote A Vision of Hope during incarceration, founded A Vision of Hope Media, and created ReturnPath, an identity-based curriculum for recovery and reentry. His work has earned Readers' Favorite 2026 Award Finalist honors in Non-Fiction, Social Issues, a Readers' Favorite 5-star review, IndieReader Approved recognition, and a National Indie Excellence Awards Finalist spot in Addiction and Recovery.

Drasen wrote A Vision of Hope during his final incarceration and finished the last chapter minutes before walking out—a raw memoir about relapse, consequence, mercy, and the work of rebuilding a trustworthy life. He now helps readers and groups move from story to action through a companion Reflections book and a 90-day workbook for change.

A Wisconsin native, Drasen's path took him through eight treatment programs and multiple incarcerations before lasting recovery. He began writing inside, using journal entries and essays to process identity, purpose, and faith.

The A Vision of Hope series extends beyond memoir. The companion book Reflections distills lessons learned along the way. The Workbook provides a practical, interactive tool for self-growth and group work and forms the foundation of a 90-day curriculum used by treatment centers and reentry programs.

Drasen's mission deepened after the loss of his fiancée of six years—also in recovery—who took her life during a period of mental-health crisis. That tragedy sharpened his focus on helping individuals heal and advocating for reforms in addiction treatment, criminal justice, and mental health care.

When not writing or speaking, Drasen enjoys walking his dog Eeva, exploring nature, and reading on healing, resilience, science, and the big questions of life.
