Adolf El Assal

Adolf El Assal is an award-winning Luxembourgish-Egyptian film director, writer, and producer whose work blends humour, heart, and sharp social commentary. With over two decades in the industry, his films have screened at major festivals worldwide and been distributed across multiple continents, including on Netflix and Amazon Prime.

A Kingston University MA graduate in Filmmaking and a two-time Berlinale Talents alumnus, Adolf has produced and directed more than 20 features, documentaries, and shorts. His breakout hit Sawah became the first majority-Luxembourg production to land on Netflix in Benelux, MENA, DACH, and CEE territories.

As founder of Wady Films in Luxembourg and Edgy Films in Abu Dhabi, Adolf is known for building bridges between Europe and the Middle East, navigating complex co-productions, and securing multimillion-euro financing. His collaborators include Film Fund Luxembourg, major co-producers, and leading international broadcasters.

Fluent in English, French, German, Luxembourgish, and spoken Arabic, Adolf thrives in multilingual, multicultural environments. His projects often explore themes of identity, belonging, and resilience, while championing fresh voices and underrepresented perspectives.

Beyond filmmaking, Adolf is a business consultant, public speaker, and mentor to emerging creatives. Whether producing festival contenders, directing documentary series, or shaping high-impact commercial projects, he remains committed to telling stories that resonate long after the credits roll.
