Evelyn Dean

Evelyn's books are inspired by the beauty and wisdom of Nature. As an illustrator and a writer, she explores our partnership with Earth and it's living beings. She uses a variety of imaginative perspectives, exploring surrealism and whimsy. More than anything else, the word illustrator applies to her, as she loves to tell a story through her art. Her long time studies and reverence for plants and herbal medicine is also a large part of her inspiration. The plant world is one of endless wonder and fascination.

For her Wisdom from the Wood Cards, Evelyn explores her fascination with trees, using live edge wood to guide her images. The trees are old beings, and the wood holds the secrets of generations within its lines and patterns. Wood burning tree panels is a meditative process of exploration, finding patterns and designs as she works. More recently, she has started adding her watercolor and acrylic paintings to the line.
