Marcelo Alonso

Marcelo Alonso started as a photographer and reporter for Kiai magazine in 1993, later working as editor of Tatame magazine and correspondent for the fields’ main news outlets around the world: Kakutougi Tsushin, Cinturon Negro, Budo, Fighters Only, Kampfkunst, Black Belt, and Full Contact Fighter. Through his photos and reports, great sports icons such as Rodrigo Minotauro, Wanderlei Silva, Fabricio Werdum, Vitor Belfort, José Aldo and Anderson Silva were presented to the world even before they made history in the ring.

In 2009, he left Tatame and joined PVT, becoming a correspondent for Sherdog in Brazil and beginning a new phase of his career at COMBATE Channel, where he presented TV programs such as Cara a Cara, Entrevista Combate, Baú do MMA, and Combate News. In 2016, he joined the team of UFC commentators. Author of the documentaries Rivalidades (“Rivalries”) 1 and 2, and Dos Samurais ao MMA, 500 anos de Luta (“From the Samurai to MMA, 500 years of Fighting”), Available in Amazon Prime (USA, UK and Japan).

Since 2024, Alonso has a permanent presence on the UFC Fight Pass Brasil platform on Além do Octógono (“Beyond the Octagon”), which produces mini-documentaries about important chapters that defined the history of sport.
