Syed Hassan

Syed Akbar Hassan is an Indian author whose writing explores ordinary lives, family, memory, faith, and the quiet moral choices that shape human experience. After a long professional career in information technology, he turned increasingly toward reflective fiction and literary nonfiction.

He is the author of Life’s Echo, Light Upon Light, Quiet Habits, and The Woman Who Kept the House Awake: A Memoir in 25 Stories. His newest publication is a linked literary memoir about a son beside his ailing mother in Patna and the memories that return from Darulaman, a joint-family home sustained by one woman’s largely unseen labour.

Across his books, Hassan writes in a clear, restrained, and humane style, finding significance in family routines, spiritual reflection, silent transformations, and acts of care that often pass unnoticed.
