Dieter Frey

Dieter Frey, born in Baiersbronn in 1946, is Professor of Social and Organizational Psychology at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and Academic Director of the LMU Center for Leadership and People Management. His research focuses on ethical leadership, moral courage, innovation, creativity, and changing values. As a coach and consultant, he also combines theoretical knowledge with its practical application in business.

In addition, Frey is a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and has received several awards for his research, including the German Psychology Prize (Psychologist of the Year 1998) and an award from the Margit Eger Foundation at the University of Zurich for his commitment to contributing to a more humane world on a scientific basis.

Frey has also taught in Kiel and New York, where he held the Theodeur Heuss Professorship at the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research. From 2003 to 2013, he also headed the Bavarian Elite Academy, an institution of business and universities in Bavaria.

His motto is: “Science is problem solving.” In his work, he combines science and practice with the aim of uniting excellence and humanity. For decades, he has been trying to make the world a better place, both on a large and small scale, with publications, lectures, and workshops in science, business, politics, culture, sports, and society.
