Simon Becker

Simon Becker was born in Switzerland where he did his basic education. At age 17, he traveled to the United States of America as an exchange student and stayed in the US to complete his university training and study Chinese medicine. He graduated in 1997 with a Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Florida Institute of TCM. He then completed a 4-month internship at the Heilongjiang College of Chinese Medicine in Harbin, PRC. Later, he completed his MSc in Chinese Herbal Medicine at the University of Westminster, UK, in 2012. After 10 years in the US, he moved back to Switzerland where he now lives, teaches and practices. He is the author of various articles and books on Chinese medicine in English and in German, including Chinese Medical Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases, a translation of the late classic Yi lin gai cuo (Correcting the Errors in the Forest of Medicine), Akupunktur in Schwangerschaft, Geburt und Wochenbett (Acupuncture for Pregnancy, Birth and Postpartum), and TCM in der Kinderheilkunde (TCM Pediatrics). He is a regular lecturer at various congresses and seminars around Europe and teaches extensively in Switzerland. He is also a lecturer for Pediatrics at the Daoist Traditions College for Chinese Medicine in Asheville, North Carolina. Simon was the president for the Swiss Professional Association of TCM from 2003 until 2009 and was heavily involved in the setup of the Federal Diploma for Naturopathy in Switzerland. Since 2012, he is the director of the Chiway Academy in Winterthur, Switzerland and deputy head of the Chinese Medicine Policlinic at the Hospital in Horgen, Switzerland. He specializes in the treatment of children and supportive treatment of cancer patients.
