Rachel Sindaco was unofficially diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis
in 1989 at the age of 17. The doctors decided to diagnose her with
Transverse Myelitis because of her young age and medication only
being available on a lottery system. Her official diagnosis came in
2001 after she had a bout of Optic Neuritis. In 2011, Rachel was hit
with what she likes to call the "Daily Double", and was diagnosed with
Ocular Melanoma. Rachel felt compelled to write about navigating life
with 2 unique heath conditions while raising a family. This is when she
put her life on paper and wrote "From a Kick in the Head to a Kick in
the Ass My involuntary Journey with Multiple Sclerosis and Ocular
Melanoma".
After living more than 35 years with MS and over 14 years with OM,
Rachel believes life is still very much worth fighting for. With a little
creativity and a lot of determination, she’s found that the journey,
though unpredictable, can still be fulfilling, joyful, and, above all,
meaningful.
