I wanted to write about the person who is always told they are not enough, and show what happens when that person stops believing it. Sable's story is about fear, chosen family and the strange, stubborn courage it takes to trust people when you have every reason not to. I hope readers finish the last page and feel a little less alone.

I have spent most of my adult life working within mental health, and poured my heart and soul into my job working with individuals who, at times, struggle to want to stay alive. During this time I found my love for drawing and writing fantastical stories to support my own mental health. For years I would draw the same characters over and over, and eventually their stories became so loud in my head that the best course of action was to just let them speak for themselves.

As I wrote words on a page their personalities broke through and directed the plot in ways even I never saw coming. Writing has allowed me to understand the world through other peoples eyes which has not only made me a better writer but a better mental health practitioner. It has allowed me to understand what lies beneath the words and masks we hide behind everyday.
