I'm Romy Beck, and I write stories that sneak life skills past kids' defenses - worry monsters boys can shrink, candy cartels run by gummy bears they can outsmart, an AI who desperately wants to hug but can't figure out how.

When I was a kid, stories taught me you could be afraid and brave at the same time, that failure wasn't fatal, and that hearing your own drumbeat - even when it's different - is worth celebrating.

Fast forward a few decades: I'd seen how powerful it is when kids learn these skills early, but those opportunities aren't available to everyone. I realized what was missing: stories that teach without feeling like homework.

My hope? The boy in your life reads these, fans the flame of his imagination, and remembers he can shrink his own worry monsters when life gets loud.
