I’ve been involved in writing all my working life, but "Rollover Week" is my first published novel. It’s very different from my other published work "Walking the Stranger Road", which is a book of 40 meditations. “Rollover” is a fast-paced crime story with heavy overtones of conspiracy, quite a lot of violence and some sex (my friends all say there should be more, I tell them to try writing a sex scene). I started it years ago, gave up, then suddenly had a flash of inspiration about how the story could develop. It’s set mainly in Bristol, a city I love and where I have spent a good part of my life. I was a junior police officer there, the inspiration for the central character. I’m fond of some of them, especially Jane, who just walked off the page and into my life. It seems strange to describe yourself as an “author”, but I suppose that’s what I am now. I’ve left the door open for a sequel… just need that flash of inspiration again.
