Bill Thoms has been all over the world seeing and rescuing orchids in their natural habitats.

He has written a well-respected book on his favorite, Bulbophyllums, titled:

He and his life partner, Doris Dukes, have received over 100 National Cultural Awards, (in 29 different Genera) from the American Orchid Society, arguably the most in the world, and have done this by themselves without a large staff.

His writing is always humorous and written in an easy-to-read style with the emphasis on helpful tips to be used at home to make any plant more betterer.

His new book, The Magic Sex Orchid, is a humorous mystery about an orchid that causes anyone who gets near it to experience extreme amorous feelings and many want to obtain it. The plot is believable and the characters are familiar, while the ending is unexpected.
