Guss Des Van Ayals is a writer based in southern Chile. Drawn away from the tumult of the capital, he found in the majestic landscapes of La Araucanía—with its frost-laced winters, watchful volcanoes, and the quiet warmth of its people—a setting that would deeply shape his literary imagination.
Following a period marked by serious health challenges and long hospital stays, he turned his life toward study and writing. He pursued Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh and Greek and Roman Mythology at Pennsylvania State University.
This solid academic foundation permeates his work, which moves between bold reinterpretations of classical traditions and fables driven by a profound engagement with myth, memory, and wisdom.
He is the author of the Leyendas Celtas series, which includes:
The Fox and the Lark (La Zorra y la Alondra),
The Bard, the Archer, and the Odyssey (El Bardo, la Arquera y la Odisea),
and the illustrated anthology Tales of Myths and Tides (Relatos de Mitos y Mareas).
In November 2025, he published The Immortal Song (La Canción Inmortal).
His writing weaves landscape, myth, and introspection into a literary universe shaped by endurance, memory, and the quiet persistence of the human spirit.
