Mr Nick Cummins

Nick Cummins is the author behind the Growing Up! children's book series — heartfelt stories that explore the real-life challenges kids face at school and in the world around them. Drawing from his own experiences of being adopted, emigrating to Australia, and overcoming childhood bullying, Nick writes with empathy, honesty, and a strong belief that every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued.

His books don’t shy away from tough topics like exclusion, failure, and self-doubt — instead, they meet kids where they are and gently guide them toward hope, courage, and belonging.

When he’s not writing, Nick works as a trainer and bus driver in Newcastle, NSW. He’s also a father, a storyteller, a 3D printing hobbyist, and someone who believes that sometimes the best way to heal is by helping others feel less alone.

If even one child feels understood because of these stories, then it’s all been worth it.
