D.E. Wexler

D.E. Wexler is the youngest son of two artists, both native to Brooklyn, who settled early in their career in the Hudson Valley region of New York. Rather than art, however, he developed an interest in science research while studying biology at the State University of New York – Stony Brook. He subsequently trained in microbiology at the University of Minnesota Medical School where he made important discoveries on the infectious nature of Group A streptococci and laid the foundation for the development of a protective vaccine. Later on, after a short tenure with the National Institutes of Health, he transitioned to high school teaching, spending the next twenty years articulating concepts in science and technology to students in the Milwaukee Public Schools. He currently enjoys retirement with his wife, Ingrid, and a small pack of lap dogs. In his spare time, he bicycles, plays classical guitar, and continues to write. He is the author of The Art of Thyra Davidson (2023), George Wexler's Marvelous Places (2023), A Field Guide to George Wexler's Marvelous Places (2023), Artists of New Paltz – The '60s Era: Conversations on Art, Life…and Death (2024), and God the Chameleon - A Paranormal Memoir (2025).
