Starting as an engineer and rising to the C-suite, Dr. Matt Markel has spent his career challenging the status quo and searching for better ways to lead, build, and grow.

Dr. Markel has been a chief engineer at the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory and a Principal Engineering Fellow at Raytheon, where he led the company’s advanced electronic warfare work. He then pivoted into the tech space, where he led radar innovation at self-driving technology leader Waymo and then Ghost Autonomy, and served as President and later CEO of Spartan Radar. Today he shapes the future of defense and commercial products as CTO of Epirus—a growth-stage technology startup focused on defending our troops and citizens from drone attacks.

Matt is also an active investor, advisor, and author of Radar for Fully Autonomous Driving, blending deep technical insight with strategic vision.
