Shawn Taylor

Shawn Taylor is an author, technologist, and storyteller whose work bridges imagination, innovation, and the human spirit. His books span worlds both real and imagined - from The Thread That Held, the true story of two lives torn by war and rejoined by love, to Inventing Tomorrow, a bold exploration of technologies that could redefine the future, and The Box of Merlin, a sweeping fantasy saga rooted in real magic and moral choice.

He is also the creator of the Alex & Bit series - a growing collection of children’s books that introduce young readers to robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital ethics through storytelling, creativity, and heart. The series has been shared with schools across the United States to inspire curiosity and confidence in the next generation of makers.

Raised in the United States and shaped by a childhood in foster care, Shawn enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany, Kosovo, and Iraq, where he earned a reputation for ingenuity and calm under pressure. After the war, he transitioned into technology and entrepreneurship, building companies focused on innovation and resilience - values that continue to anchor his writing today.

Whether he’s exploring the limits of human potential, the ethics of artificial intelligence, or the quiet endurance of love, Shawn’s stories share a common thread: the belief that creativity and compassion can change what’s possible.

Alongside his wife and co-author of The Thread That Held, Nahrain, he continues to give back - donating dozens of books each month to schools and organizations across the United States, supporting classrooms with hands-on technology initiatives, and even helping one school establish a complete 3D printing lab to spark learning through innovation.
