Ramin Farhood

Dr. Ramin Farhood, PharmD, MBA, is a pharmacologist, senior medical executive, entrepreneur, and educator with more than 25 years of experience leading drug development strategy across rare and ultra-rare diseases. He has built and scaled global Medical Affairs organizations, launched innovative therapies, and partnered with payors, regulators, clinicians, thought leaders, and advocacy groups to bring life-changing treatments to patients with the greatest unmet need.

He is the Co-Founder and CEO of the Oncology Voice Network (OVN)—a free, global platform designed to bring together all disciplines and functions across the life sciences. OVN’s mission is to create a trusted space where conversations, insights, and contributions compound in value and accelerate progress. The platform was born from the book Voices of Oncology, which Dr. Farhood edited and co-authored with leading experts from across the industry. In addition to contributing multiple chapters, he has authored numerous publications, delivered keynote lectures, and is widely recognized as a thought leader on medical strategy, innovation, and the future of healthcare.

Dr. Farhood currently serves as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at SSI Strategy, advising biopharma leaders of all sizes on first-to-market therapies, complex organizational design, and integrated medical solutions. His prior leadership roles include Vice President of Global Medical Affairs at Avexis/Novartis—where he played a critical role in the global launch of the first-ever gene therapy for spinal muscular atrophy—as well as senior positions at Baxter, Baxalta, and Shire.

Beyond his executive career, Dr. Farhood has distinguished himself as a community builder and pioneer in professional standards. He co-founded the Medical Affairs Professional Society (MAPS), now the largest global nonprofit advancing excellence and innovation in Medical Affairs, and the Immunoglobulin National Society (IgNS), which has transformed practice standards for immunoglobulin therapy worldwide. Through these organizations, he has helped unite professionals across disciplines, elevate best practices, and strengthen the collective voice of the medical community. He also co-hosts The Emerging Biotech Leader podcast and has served as Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California (USC) and Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) Schools of Pharmacy.

His contributions have been recognized with the PharmaVoice 100 award and Alumnus of the Year honors, reflecting his impact as a clinician, educator, and executive leader in life sciences.
